    On November 4, 2023, organized by Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) IWA Resource Recovery Cluster、 The 5th International Water Association Resource Recycling Conference, organized by Shenzhen Environmental Science Society, the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resources and Water Environment, and the Smart Environment and Water Affairs Special Committee, was successfully held in Shenzhen. This conference brought together more than 800 domestic and foreign academicians, top scholars, and leaders in the energy storage industry to jointly explore sustainable development.

    With the intensification of global climate change, fully achieving the United Nations' sustainable development goals is a shared responsibility of the world. The circular utilization of resources is an important support for the concept of sustainable development and an important path for synergistic efficiency in reducing pollution and carbon emissions. To this end, the International Water Association (IWA) has been holding the IWA Resource Recovery Conference every two years since 2015. The first four conferences were held in Belgium (2015), the United States (2017), Italy (2019) and Türkiye (2021).


    This year, the International Water Association Resource Recycling Conference came to Shenzhen for the first time, bringing together top experts, scholars, and professionals from the new energy industry to focus on and explore a green, low-carbon, and sustainable future.

    Hu Dong pointed out that the mainstream electrochemistry is mainly based on lead battery series, lithium iron phosphate series, and nickel cadmium nickel hydrogen series.


    Currently, there are only two companies in the world that can produce acid free Solid State OPzV batteries. One was developed by a German battery company in 1957, and the other was put into production by Ritar in 2005. In recent years, although lithium based batteries are also an option for energy storage, they are prone to heating, fire, and explosion, posing safety hazards. Therefore, as a fixed energy storage with extremely high safety requirements, Acid Free Solid State OPzV Battery will be the first choice. The market share of nickel hydrogen batteries is only 8%, not mainstream. In the future, both lead based and lithium based batteries will compete for the stage of fixed energy storage.
